Copernic: Competitiveness of Rhône-Alpes Ecosystem for New Solar Cell Applications

Completed

Project type

FUI 7

Project holder

Pfeiffer Vacuum

Non-members Partners

CEA DRT, PV Alliance, INERIS

Challenges

The Copernic project aims to build a local equipment industry (vacuum equipment and instrumentation) and innovative services (maintenance and cleaning). This industry will develop advanced technology for all stages of PV cell production by leveraging the following resources: - The Rhône-Alpes region's skills in semi-conductors Heterojunction technology as a platform for designing new products.

Objectives

Understand the problems with contamination in the heterojunction process and locate potential innovating products that can solve these problems. - Develop cleaning and maintenance procedures for the critical elements in the heterojunction process. - Develop novel vacuum products (next-generation primary vacuum modules) for photovoltaic deposition processes.
