Jean Chabbal appointed Chief Representative of Minalogic

Jean Chabbal was appointed Chief Representative of Minalogic effective February 1, 2011. He succeeds Nicolas Leterrier, who has held the position since the cluster was founded in 2005.

Jean Chabbal will focus on two of the cluster's strategy pillars for 2011:
- Securing Minalogic's role in various programs financed under the French government's economic stimulus package (the Institutes for Technology Research, IEED, and other projects and platforms)
- Keeping funding available for collaborative projects amid local and national budget restrictions
"Innovation and competitiveness are now the cornerstones of France's industrial strategy, as demonstrated by the French government's economic stimulus package. Competitive clusters will play a central role in France's new economic ecosystem. My job will be to make sure that Minalogic has the resources it needs to support growth-driving innovation projects in the Grenoble region," said Mr. Chabbal.
Mr Chabbal, 60 years old, has an engineering degree from Grenoble Institute of Technology and graduate degrees in Solid Materials Physics and Business Administration.
He previously held several positions at Thomson CSF, where he helped develop and manufacture imaging components and systems for industrial and medical applications. In 1997 he was appointed Managing Director of Trixell, the world leader in digital radiological detectors.
In 2001 Mr. Chabbal was appointed Head of the Microtechnology Department for Biology and Healthcare Applications at CEA-Grenoble, a position he held until December 2010. During that time, he also served as a Member of the Board of Directors of the Lyonbiopôle competitive cluster, where he contributed expertise in nanotechnology and instrumentation for medical diagnostics and imaging.
