On February 25, Minalogic organized an Open Innovation Day for Framatome at its Lyon-Gerland premises, with a clear objective: to identify innovative solutions for monitoring sensors’ health and optimizing the maintenance of nuclear instrumentation.
For more than ten years, Minalogic Open Innovation Days have enabled large groups to quickly identify, within the cluster’s ecosystem, the companies and laboratories able to meet their technological challenges. This on-demand format combines targeted sourcing, technical exchanges, and qualified networking to generate concrete opportunities for collaboration.
20 players selected to meet Framatome's challenges
For this day, 20 organizations (startups, SMEs, large companies, and research laboratories) were selected by Framatome for the relevance of their expertise.
After a presentation of the objectives and technological challenges by the Framatome teams, each participant had the opportunity to present their solutions during plenary pitch sessions. This first session allowed for a quick sharing of technological approaches and identification of potential complementarities between players. These presentations were a key first step in preparing for the in-depth discussions that followed.
Collective intelligence to bring out avenues for joint work
The next session was the one Framatome chose to focus on: a series of collaborative workshops encouraging direct discussions between Framatome and participants in order to identify short and long-term opportunities for joint work.
First, the working groups identified the main obstacles currently hindering the deployment of effective solutions: technical constraints, organizational challenges, and access to data.
The participants then proposed various possible responses, ranging from immediately implementable solutions to approaches requiring more structural development in the medium or long term.
These discussions gave rise to several prospects for collaboration, including:
- co-development of technological solutions,
- sharing of anonymized databases,
- and qualification of new smart sensors for future nuclear facilities.
Targeted meetings with Framatome experts
The day ended with a series of one-on-one meetings between participants and Framatome experts to deepen certain technological proposals and more concretely explore possible ways of partnering, sustainable, capable of providing solutions to maintain and extend the lifespan of nuclear power plants.
A concrete demonstration of the value of Open Innovation
This event illustrates Minalogic's ability to quickly identify, mobilize, and connect the relevant expertise within its ecosystem to meet the innovation needs of large companies.
🤝 Thank you to Framatome for trusting us in co-organizing this Open Innovation Day and for the commitment of its teams, particularly in facilitating the event throughout the day.
🤝 Thanks also to our partner clusters Aktantis and Silicon Alps, members of the Silicon Europe Alliance, for their contribution to sourcing participants.
