A top priority in interventional radiology is reducing the amount of radiation needed to generate reliable images--so as to limit the radiation exposure of patients and doctors alike. Another goal is to lower the amount of iodine-based contrast agent that has to be injected into patients for blood vessel X-rays.
The Cosirix project will develop the technology bricks needed to create lower-radiation flat-panel detectors using CMOS technology. The project team will also come up with new CMOS circuits and sensor designs.
