The Intense project will develop an implantable, communicating neurostimulation platform to help treat serious diseases. It will initially be designed to stimulate the vagus nerve for cases of severe obesity and intractable heart failure. The goal is to eventually create a new biomedical industry for neurostimulation applications--a high-growth market for which France has undeniable strengths and which represents a major opportunity for the future.
Under the Intense project, researchers will develop: * A low-power, multisensory microelectronic platform that allows for self-adapting therapy; * A miniaturized design through advanced 3D assembly methods for the platform; * Innovative electrodes for improved treatment selectivity and effectiveness.
