Engineers need massive calculation power to design today's increasingly sophisticated electronic circuits and components. This power is usually provided by supercalculators, calculation clusters, and calculation grids, but such equipment is out of reach for most SMEs in the semiconductor industry due to its expensive infrastructure and the complicated methods and technology needed for high-performance calculations. The approximately 20 CAD software developers in the Minalogic competitive cluster must be able to access powerful calculation equipment and services in order to develop and distribute new products. Therefore Minalogic provides its partner companies and organizations with a calculation cluster (and its extended grids) that pools together all of its partners' resources. The Ciloe project aims to give Minalogic's software developers the methods, tools, and know-how to harness this infrastructure for their software development needs.
